About

The JCSC (“The Jewish Community of Solano County”) is a religious non-profit (501 (c) 3) dedicated to exploring, sharing, teaching, learning and celebrating Spirituality with an emphasis on the Jewish Spiritual Path.   Part of that mission includes an intimate, informal congregation within Solano County, Congregation HaMakom (pronounced “Ha-Ma-Comb”. It means Congregation of “The Place” or the “Omnipresence”. Whatever That Is, which is always present) through Rabbi Stephen Vale (aka “Rabbi Steve”), our spiritual leader and teacher.

In addition to Congregation HaMakom, our mission includes other ways of connecting and building community, and we see this as “post-denominational” or to put it in simpler terms, “universal”.

We are very excited about our Spiritual Media Production Network (SMPN), which specializes in audio, video and text content and production, touching on many different interests, including (but not limited to):universal and non-religious spiritual practices, , storytelling, qigong, philosophy, literature (including everything from classic texts to Comic books), movies, technology, television, music, pop culture and much more.

We also reach out through Rabbi Steve’s teaching, meditations, and storytelling to other communities and individuals throughout the world.

Rabbi Steve does this through regular recurring visits to some communities, as well as “one-time only” events.    This part of the mission is not only for Jewish communities, but churches and other religious and non-religious organizations for which Rabbi Steve’s teaching of integrating physical and spiritual practices, Eastern and Western philosophy (Jew-Taoism), theory and practice (that which is practical, what works!) might prove valuable.

Please feel free to join and participate in our growing spiritual community, no matter where you are, no matter your own faith tradition (or lack thereof), and based on your interests that intersect with ours.

Welcome and Shalom (peace, harmony and wholeness in every sense of the word)!
